Rookie question but I wanted to animate a scene of two NPC characters interacting in the same Spine scene and then importing them together as a single animation. Is that possible or is there a limit of one skeleton when importing into Unity?

Each skeleton in Spine exports as one json/binary skeleton data file.
Each skeleton data file is one SkeletonData asset in Unity.

Each skeleton only uses one SkeletonData as its data source.

So that means that if there are two skeletons in my Spine project, importing them into Unity will work right? Based on what you said it sounds like that if there is more then one skeleton, they will export more than one character correct?

A Spine project with two skeletons will be exported as two separate skeleton data files, yes.
