The notifications are a little odd. They seem to turn gray when read, but they don't disappear for some time. I guess that's so you can still access them, rather than have them disappear.
The US has an "amber alert" system. When a child is abducted, they can use it send a message to EVERYONE'S cell phone in the area with a description of the car and abductor. That's cool, but it makes a terrible screeching noise and shortly after it starts speaking the text of the alert. If you click OK to make that stop, the alert disappears completely! That basically encourages people to just click OK to make the noise stop. 🤦♂️ Anyway, maybe notifications sticking around isn't so bad. 😉
