The Spine 4.3 beta has begun!

We have gotten bogged down for various reasons. By end of January we'll return to regular 4.3-beta releases. There are a few important changes needed but it is otherwise close to production ready.

In our local Spine community we noticed that it is not possible to bake keys into the physics constraint in 4.3. I remembered that in 4.3.00-beta there was a new hotkey "key constrained" that allowed this. But now in 4.3.39-beta this hotkey does nothing and it is again impossible to bake keys.
We found a way around this problem by using a TK constraint on another bone and setting the keys there, but we still wanted to be able to always set keys directly for physically constrained bones.

Hello everybody! I recently upgraded to version 4.3 and ran into a problem that I can't solve yet. In the animation, a path constraint and a transform constraint are applied to the bottle. In the animation, one constraint alternately stops acting on the bottle, and the other picks it up, and everything looks as it should. The bottle comes off your hand and flies to the right place, and then returns to your hand. But for some reason it doesn't work in unity. Could you tell me what this might be related to?

This is a known issue that needs to be fixed, and the fix will likely be available in the next beta.

Davide I want to confirm that if I reload my export from Spine in json format, the animation error is not reproduced, everything works as expected. The problem is with binary export.

Yes, sorry, I forgot to mention that. As stated in the report on GitHub, the issue affects only the binary format.
You can still use path constraints on your runtime, if you export using JSON format.

Sorry for asking, I know people asked about that before in this thread but is there any ETA for the release?
We are in a situation where we need to update Unity version to 6000.3 and we can't because of the Spine package incompatibility.
Or if it's not coming soon, is the beta package safe enough for updating?

I was playing around with the new 4.3 features and I was wondering is you are hosting the web player like for the 4.2 version ?

Right now, I'm exporting from 4.3 to 4.2 but I know it's not optimal.

You can easily build the 4.3-beta version locally.
But you are right, since it's taking more time than expected I'll make a release next week.

I know this has been asked many times already, but is there any rough estimate for the 4.3 full release as we getting close to 1 year anniversary of public betas?

We’re planning our next project around some of the new features, so we’ve been closely following the 4.3 updates and betas.

I noticed the Unity runtime changed a bit in one of the previous beta updates. Do you think it’s already close to what the final runtime will look like? We’re considering starting development with the beta runtime and later switching to the full release if things stay mostly compatible.

Yes, I believe 4.3-beta is quite close to the final version. While the editor still has various bugs remaining, there are hardly any issues left that would require changes to the runtimes.

It will likely take over a month before the stable release of 4.3 is actually announced, but I believe it's generally fine to start development with the current runtime. Even if issues arise, fixes are being implemented at a very fast pace right now, so if you contact us, we should be able to address them fairly quickly.
