Nate promised us audio in 3.7 and I can't wait for it, so I did few mockups in "Give them a finger, and they'll take the whole hand" manner 😃

Making traditional animation is more tied to shots/scenes so characters are just elements in a given shot. I left Animations in every character, but introduced Stage where you can see all your characters in one timeline. In cases where two characters have to interact there has to be some sort of Global Draw order. Having Camera and separate from skeletons Background image would enable to export finished shots and bypass comping software completely.

In Animate having all characters on one timeline would be more convenient and having them as collapsible groups would be perfect. To have some sort of characters tied Presets, you select some timeline keyframes and save them in preset, it's basically automated copy/paste.

It would be nice to have more options in export dialogue 🙂

Hope you like some if this, cheers!

This feature gets a bit complicated. It does make a lot of sense for cartooning.

We have this by dragging skeletons up/down in the tree. It isn't possible to key though.

An extra skeleton behind all the others could be used for background images. A camera would indeed be helpful for exporting, though I wonder how many features it would need to replace doing composition in other software? You'd want to key it's position at least, and probably zoom and rotation.

What did you have in mind?

Keep the ideas coming!
