Hello, I hope I dont ask something already asked.
I wonder if it is possible to duplicate an animation within the same project.
In my case, I have an element animated in a mesh, now i like to have the same animation (with duplicated assets) happening somewhere else simultaniously. Do I have to recreate the whole mesh animation or is there a workaround to paste it to my duplicated element?
Thank you in advance.
Duplicate Animation to another Element
- Edited
Are you saying you want to copy a free-form deformation/mesh animation from one mesh to another mesh?
Basicly yes, but it is the same mesh one by one just duplicated and the bone moved somewhere else.
Unfortunately, right now, a duplicate of a mesh is still a different mesh. And there's no way to copy the animation for it.
People have asked this before though. I forgot what the developers decided on it.
Hey, I just found out a workaround to duplicate my mesh animation!
This is what I have done:
My project does contain already the duplicated bone including the new mesh. In my case its star1 and star2. star1 is the one containing the animation. I want star2 doing the same mesh animation.
I saved project with a new name.
Changed the position of my existing mesh animation in a new animation
Changed the name from star1 to star2 in the bone as in the slot.
Opened my original project and imported the new animation (from the duplicated project) to my existing project.
Now I just went back to my original animation and copied the animation of star1 into my new imported animation, having now both.
Voila
Ohh, that's a clever workaround! I'll be sure to recommend it to the next person who asks.
It is not easy to duplicate it. I try to follow your instruction, half shrimp, but always is some problems (missing slots, etc.). Why is it so difficult, i asking the creators of the program? This is only copying the same animation with the same object. It should be the basic feature!
its not easy, you have to be concentrated to have the same name as in the duplicate. if everything is exactly the same it should work. i do this a lot.
