I wanna start by stating i searched the forums for this answer before posting, just no luck finding an answer here or elsewhere online.

I want to duplicate some linked bones with and without the attached images for use in the same project. An example would be as if i wanted to make a spider and wanted to duplicate all legs exactly. However i cant seem to locate how to pull this off.. help :S

thanks!

I finally figured how to do this, however there seems to be a lacking feature in the editor for mirroring.

You forgot to tell everyone how to do it. :p

For anyone wondering: You select the parent bone and click on the Duplicate button at the bottom of the tree/above the bone property box.
It's the button on the left:

Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway

Anyway, you're right that the editor doesn't have a straightforward tool to just mirror a thing. Sounds like a good feature suggestion.

Actually i tried that and it didnt work. I selected the root and used the copy and paste key combinations. I dont know why the button failed to function.

I just did that and it works.
It's not copy paste. It's the duplicate button.
Using CTRL+C then CTRL+V on bones copies their transform values. It doesn't make a new bone.

We should probably have a toast for that. I'm fairly sure people don't copy-paste transforms often enough for that to be annoying.

But the bones did duplicate for me. Possibly you misunderstood what I did or i didnt explain properly? I dont know. Ether way is there a video that covers this? It woyld help to get over any issue of communication.

What I would like to also learn how to do is mirror bones as well. It would be great for complex rigs.

I mirrored bones such as the legs of a spider with attachments and child bones, personally, the solution that worked for me last year was to attach what I wanted to duplicate and mirror to a point bone matching the origin of the fist bone, I would then scale at -1 the point bone to avoid strange behaviours in the other bones. (I did this last year though, so maybe strange things won't happen if you directly scale at -1 the first bone of the hierarchy you want to copy, I don't know)
