Europeana GIF contest
Hello folks,
I saw thiscontest on Europeana, which is a website of art collections, asking people to use public domain paintings in their database to make GIFS, they have actual prizes, deadline is on the end of October and you just have to create a gif and post it on tumblr (more details in the link)
I thought it would be a super cute idea for animators to take a little exercise with meshes, add up something to one's portfolio and raise the attention both on Spine and art.
Here you can have a peek at this year's entries. as you an see other people are doing really basic stuff, so it would be pretty easy to do something above the average with Spine, if I were smart and cunning I wouldn't share the link but I'm not and I find more interesting what you people could do as well. (ain't it really interesting?)
This is last year's winner. Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway
Oh and I'm working on this fellow, I'd ask you the courtesy to pick another one if possible for your entry >.< Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway
Post your entry here if you decide to join and Good Luck!
Cool! Looks like Spine could sweep the contest.
Hah, awesome. A good friend of mine used to work at Europeana.
Finished the entries! If you think it's worthy I can even share the source files, I don't mind.
Here are my two entries based on that painting (one is just a crop of the other):

I wanted to convey the feeling of Sir William (that's his actual name) being in front of the painter, a little nervous, but peaceful.
It was fun to do, I really love meshes!
wow!
It's cool! Though I feel like I can see some linear movement. It's hard to put a finger on, but maybe it's somewhat jarring when his head changes direction. It could start more slowly when stopping and starting a direction.
Ah yes, I wanted to make it longer at first then I realized I had a 2MB size limit and I looped it roughtly. Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway
Could have been something more like him suddenly thinking: "Brilliant!" or "COOKIES!"
Or a "no no no no no no no, so disappointing" face Image removed due to the lack of support for HTTPS. | Show Anyway
One could make a set of stupid gifs out of this.
The no no is best!
The contest has ended and I said I'd post the source file so here it is. Please use this to do more memes better and more fun than what I did (; (or worse? have fun!) and make sure to post whatever result here, I'd love to see them.
Funny
Update: Woah! People from Europeana asked me to use one of the gifs as their 404 page!
