I had this all working 6 months back, but with the latest changes to Unity and Spine, I can't seem to get my Spine animation imported.
I am on the latest Spine, Spine runtime, and Unity Pro as of today 5/13/15. I installed the runtime. The example scenes all work fine inside of Unity.
From Spine, I successfully export atlas, json, and PNG part graphics. Under texture packer settings for the export, I changed just max width and max height to 2048. (Needed for my large part graphics.)
First, I attempted to follow the steps for "Automated Import" shown at https://github.com/EsotericSoftware/spine-runtimes/tree/master/spine-unity . The instructions say that an "ingest" option will be available when I right-click on the JSON file, but instead the options "Instantiate (SkeletonAnimation)" and "Instantiate (Mecanim)" are shown. The first is disabled. The second produces an "InvalidCastException" error message. So I don't see how I can follow the directions for "Automated Import," and suspect they are out of sync with the latest versions of Spine/Unity.
Next, I attempted to follow the steps for "Drag and Drop Import" shown at same URL. After step 1 (drag folder to assets directory) it starts an import process in Unity. But the import fails with "Skeleton JSON Import Error! Could not find matching AtlasAsset for skeleton". I looked in the directory
all the expected PNGs are there and loaded as sprite type. There is a new "skeleton_SkeletonData" object
clicking on it shows several messages like "Missing region: 'innertube_water_test0001'".
Hmm. Anyone have an idea?
