  • Fast way to change skin meshes

Hi! I created and animated a mesh character with SpinePro. Now i want to add a new skin to the character.. I created skin placeholeders for all my slots and put in there the meshes of the first skin, all went smooth. But now to crete the new skin have i to reposition manually all the new textures, create the meshes and attach them to the bones again?
Is there a way to do this faster? Like duplicating the old skin and just replacing the textures with the new ones?

0) place skin images in skin folders, and call all the images in the two things the same, so skin 1 would be skin1/rightarm and skin2 skin2/rightarm

1) Duplicate skin
2) filter skeleton so only slots and images are visible
3) expand the whole skeleton tree
4) SELECT ALL THE THINGS! (in the skeleton)
5) find and replace tool
6) type the folder in the find
7) replace with the other folder

boom

Hey BinaryCats! Thanks for this "walkthrough", works like a charm 🙂

I like the boom bit. its fun to read things from the past. I must have been having a good day when I wrote that. Now all I reply is bitter, short, blunt replies. 🙂

Whoa this is super effective, thanks BinaryCats!

I think I might be doing something wrong with your process because it ends up replacing both skins, any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Oh cool this technique is quite useful!

OT: Mebi I know Volphant! I was at the same GGJ when you first created it and I happened to be at the same table two years ago at Svilupparty! XD
Back then you told me you were using Unity animations and I remember I was impressed by the quality and the fact that you can actually animate decent stuff directly inside unity!
so no more Unity animations now?

Hello,

I did this following steps, and It works !

Only one problem, and such a big one.... Even if i have the same mesh for both parts of my characters. My deform animation of the meshes disapeared.. 😢

Do you have any solution for that ?

Thanks to all

To share meshes and deform animations, you need to use Linked Meshes

I've already suggested this (Spine editor offers to make Linked Meshes) as part of the skin duplication process. It hasn't been implemented yet.

Oh thank you! it's working !

it's quite long process but it's working

Is this on the roadmap ?
That sounds like a big workflow improvement !
