Onion skinning is now available in v1.4.01+! It is actually called "Ghosting" and is accessed via a button just above the dopesheet. The core of our vision for this feature is there, though it is very new and may see some minor tweaks. This is a powerful feature that has many uses. We will make a tutorial video in the next day or two detailing its usage. Enjoy!

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS.

But... when I opened spine it crashed. What do you need from me to check it out?

Ok, I opened it a couple of time and when I hover over an image it crashes.

MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.3

Boom!

So you were actually putting in the image stroke feature that supports ghosting too, you sly devil.
It'll work really well on the usability front. Hovering over images feels great with the clear visual feedback. (too bad about the crashes on those other people's machines)

Hmm, may be a problem on your machine with the shaders Spine uses. Can you post your spine.log file?
Windows: <user home folder>\Spine\spine.log
Mac: <user home folder>/Library/Application Support/Spine/spine.log
Linux: <user home folder>/.spine/spine.log

Did it crash for you too? Or boom as in, there it is? 😃

The good kind of boom.

Thanks for fixing the snapping thing too.

Ok, new version up that doesn't crash on OSX. Sorry for the crash and the delay fixing it, terrible terrible internet here. There are still issues with my shaders, but Spine uses a fallback and the app works again. I'll do a new build soon so you get the benefit of the shaders (better image selection, more options under ghosting).

Edit: ok, 1.4.03 is up, fixes all shaders issues on OSX. Fun times! :x

lol. Nate, I found a bug.

Remember I was scaling bones down to 0.0 to hide their child bones and images? I was doing it to hide limbs temporarily while setting up. And Spine kept crashing at the same point for some reason.

It turns out, it crashes when I drag a slot into a bone that's scaled to 0. My suspicion is that there just might be a division/multiplication involving zero in the compensation code that gets applied when you parent something that's causing it to crash.

I'd call this a funny, low-priority thing, 'cause who in their right mind would parent an image to a bone scaled to 0, right? But there you go. : p

The current 1.403 version crashes for me still on my Mac OSX 10.8.3. I have a bone with 3 bones attached to it, as soon as I scroll over it, it crashes. Worked perfectly fine before 1.403 update

And when I go to the update option, it tells me to download the latest launcher?

Thanks Pharan, I'll take a look. Edit: fixed in next version.

Please post your log file. For some reason I haven't received any crash reports for 1.4.03.

Yes, reinstall Spine so you can disable automatic updates.

Mine is working again but I haven't tested any other issues. I looked for spine.log in the Mac location but couldn't find it. I will try and do more testing later tonight.

Love the onion skinning btw great job!

LOX2K8 I unhide my library folder because I use it often. But thanks anyway.

Here is my log. I noticed a previous saved version of the same character works fine, I'm going to try and recreate what I did and see if I have any issues. Thanks Nate!

Thanks LOX2K8. Your error is very strange, seems to be unrelated to the shader problem that was fixed. Could you please email or post the .spine project file that causes this error? contact@esotericsoftware.com Thank you!

I fixed the problem. I think it had something to do with duplicating a bone with multiple attachments and moving the copies to the original.
