Hey guys,
I love spine, but the biggest feature I want to be able to utilize with a spine skeleton is ragdoll death animations. I've seen many threads here in the forums about wanting to do this as well, and it seems like no one has found a realistic solution to achieve this.
I understand that having spine impliment this feature into Spine itself would be a big deal, so perhaps we as the community can find a solution? (Though I would be more than happy to put more money towards the team at Esoteric Software to add this feature) Another kickstarter anyone? =)
Anyways, I wanted to start this thread with hopes that we can find some way to make ragdoll animations happen with spine, whatever the solution might be. I've started a unity ask post here as well: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/68 ... leton.html
I only have 2 ideas at the moment of how this might be accomplished:
Attach box colliders to the hands, feet, etc of your spine character in the game engine you are using. You would then have to manually with code tell the spine bones to try and follow and react according to how the box colliders in the game interact with terrain. ( I can't even wrap my mind around how you would start to code this )
I'm using Unity. Maybe a traditional 3D model could be created, imported into Unity, and this 3d character would be invisible (not rendered). Then when this 3d model collapses and does its ragdoll animation, you could access the 3d models bones and use this data to then upate your spine skeletons positioning / rotation. (So it would clone what the 3D model does as it ragdolls)
Hoping you guys can contribute to making this happen!
Please feel free to share your thoughts below. Would you like this feature? Have an idea of how this might be accomplished?
